[PALACE GAMES]

PALACE GAMES

What is this?

A new mechanic that has been introduced to the game that is now always available is the ability for players to run PALACE GAMES! Basically, if you'd like to, you can run a loosely Persona 5-style Palace for your character to help them work through any Issues (TM) they may be having, or even just to show off their memories/CR/past traumas. I've consolidated the information on running a Palace in Reverie onto one page for easy access. Read on if you're interested!

The MetaNav App

First things are first, characters will notice that they have access to the mysterious app on their phone. This is the MetaNav app, which will allow characters to access Palaces in Reverie. You may OOCly run a Palace Game whenever you want, without running it by me first! This does mean that you will be responsible for scheduling your own Palace Games and putting up sign ups for it too, but so long as you don't mind doing that, go wild! It's as simple as putting out feelers to your CR like HEY I WANNA RUN A PALACE GAME DOES ANYONE WANT TO PLAY IN IT, and you can slot it into the game timeline ICly whenever you see fit.

Notes

  • ICly, to access a Palace, you just need to input the character's name into the app and you will be transported to their Palace. Keywords (as used in Persona 5 proper) are confusing and hard and we aren't messing with those.
  • For characters who wouldn't ICly volunteer to have their Palaces entered, or for characters who are respectful enough not to peek into their CR's Palaces, that's okay! You can email me and we can plot a reason out together. But as a heads up, I won't rehash the whole "Warden tries to ramp up the possessions and characters are beginning to fade" plot, so you won't be able to run a Palace for that reason. That was a one-time thing, alas!
  • You can't access a character's Palace ICly without OOC permission. So, like. . . no non-con Palace-ing. Whether a Palace is accessible is the player character's choice! If OOC permission is not given or for whatever reason you don't want a character to peek at someone's Palace, then characters will just get error messages from the app every time they try.
  • You cannot access Palaces for game NPCS yet or else I would die. YOUR CHARACTER WILL GET ERROR MESSAGES IF THEY TRY
  • For anyone who is not familiar with Persona 5 but is interested in running a Palace, I have a brief primer on the Persona mechanics present in said Palaces for you to read. I HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE

  • Annnnd that is all. This is meant to be a fun mechanic to allow those who didn't run Palace games this time around a shot and DM-ing something fun, so go wild, follow your dreams, etc etc!

So how do I run a Palace?

You can take a look at the Palaces run during the August 2022 plot for an idea of how to run them. But basically, you act as a DM who comes up with an entire scenario for those playing in your Palaces to explore. Said Palace will be posted on your personal character journal, and as said above you can basically run your Palace whenever OOCly works best for you, without running it by me!

One important thing to note is that the host character of the Palace will NOT remember what happens inside the Palace. Those who explore the Palace will, of course, remember what happens! But the host character will have no idea the Palace Game even happened unless someone tells them after the Palace is done.

AND OKAY. I THINK THAT IS ALL. PLEASE GO FORTH AND HAVE FUN!
