[important!]
Hello everyone! I'm making this post mid-week as it contains an extremely important announcement:
Reverie will be going into endgame very soon, with a projected game closure of no earlier than February 2023 and no later than March 2023.
This means the game's plot is going to be ramping up in the next few months, kicked off by a few player-led initiatives, with everything culminating in February/March of next year to allow the game's story to end and the game itself to close. I've been thinking about this for a while now; with my dwindling RP energy, it is getting hard for me to moderate a game of Reverie's size. I initially created this game with a story I wanted to tell (with the help of all of my friends and everyone who has append into it!), and I really want to see that story through! I feel as though it is best to use the ideas players have come up with to help propel the game towards an official and satisfying ending, rather than allowing it to burn out entirely.
I have truly enjoyed my time moderating this game, and I am so so lucky to have had so many amazing friends and players app into it and make it the colorful and fun place to play that it is. I really, really didn't think I would get as much interest as I have gotten, nor did I think the game would be as successful as it's been. We are still around over one year later, and that makes me feel so honored that you'd all trust me as a mod and play around in my li'l creation with your own characters, plots and ideas. I want to stress that I just provided a li'l backdrop for you all to run with– you have all shaped the game into what it is today, and I intend to allow you all shape endgame and Reverie's big finish in the same way!
SO, NOW THAT THAT'S OUT OF THE WAY, let's talk a bit about how things will go for the next three to four months:
Will we still have games?
Yes! I have at least two planned: one at the beginning of December which will be light and fun, and one sometime in January probablyyyy which will be a little heavier but not a trauma game. I would like to schedule at least one more trauma/death game in there was well, and will announce that date and what the game entails when I actually have one planned out sweats.
Will we still have mingle posts with CR encouraging events?
YEP. Rev itself will proceed as normal, just with some plotty things interspersed here and there, all the way up until the game itself is ready to close. You will still have opportunities to build CR through mingle posts and the like to your heart's content.
You mentioned player-led initiatives; what will those entail?
One will entail a game-wide post that will go up around November 18th-ish. The other one won't result in a game-wide post, BUT the results of this character-specific initiative will be made public for all once the thread ends and will give you all access to all sorts of plot information!
What if I want to do a player-led plot initiative?
That's awesome, please do! I encourage this very heavily! Email the mod email account the specifics of what you're trying and we can hash something out! Not everything will cause game-wide effects, but I will do my best to give you something plotty and fun to play with.
If you choose this option, I ask that you email me and specifically tell me what your character is doing. Something like. . . "X is trying to do Y, what happens?" This gives me the ability to plan a more tailored response to your character's actions. ALSO IT'S JUST. . . WAY EASIER FOR ME TO PLOT THAT WAY ROFL I'm so bad at planning in advance, sweats.
Will we still be able to app new characters?
Apps will close for new characters/new players on December 3, 2022 which gives you approximately three weeks to apply for someone new and have them in the game for the last few months. There will be an IC reason for this as well (LOOKIN' AT YOU WILBUR), but mostly I feel like it'll be hard to juggle team placements/new characters in the midst of plot.
Characters who are already in the queue will hopefully be placed before December 3, but! If you are not, then your new characters will be placed on December 3 at the latest, regardless of team size. More on that later!
What about reapps?
Reapps will be open until endgame for any old characters and players alike!
Okay, but if reapps are open all the time, and characters will be placed regardless of team size, what does that mean for the team cap?
OKAY, SO. . . HERE IS WHERE I AM STUCK. . . Reverie's teams are already super big, and even though it's only for about three/four months, I don 't want team sizes to become super unwieldy with like twenty or so characters, especially not when we will still have games. New characters will get a team, which means some teams may jump up to 11 or 12 members depending on open slots, but I'm a little torn on what to do about reapps.
I would like reapps to go back onto the teams they were initially, BUT in order to do that, I think I need to gauge how many reapps we may be getting before I decide. Getting a rough estimate of how many reapps I may be getting will allow me to gauge whether I can just slot them all back onto their old teams or if I need to figure out something else for them (WHICH I CAN DO), SO!
If you plan on rapping a dropped character for endgame, please do me a solid and comment to this post saying so. You are not bound by your comment or lack thereof! If you comment and decide not to reapp, that's fine! If you don't comment and decide you do want to reapp later on, that's also fine. This is just administrative for me so I can figure out how to handle the potential for much larger teams. THANK U IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP ;w;/
If you have any thoughts/feelings on how reapps are handled from a player perspective btw, feel free to email the mod inbox. I can't promise I'll use your suggestions BUT they will be appreciated nonetheless!
I think that's all for now! I have a comment on this post for questions, if you need to ask any; please feel free to drop them here and I will answer them when I can. ♥
Again, thank you everyone for making Reverie such a great game, and making my first true modding experience wonderful and fantastic. I owe it all to you guys; this place never would have existed if you hadn't given me the chance. I'm really stoked to end things for Rev on a high note, and look forward to seeing what you all come up with.
MUCH LOVE,
Your mod, Al. ♥
