[AUGUST PLOT]
Happy Sunday everyone! It's time for. . . A PLOT ANNOUNCEMENT!!
Plot will begin on August 7th with a game-wide setting change. This setting change will be temporary (it'll last about a month-ish, for the duration of the plot!) and will offer characters time to explore a NEW AREA! The exploration is not going to be run exploradora/cyoa style, if only because I will die otherwise, I'm sorry. But the way I plan on doing it is having an OOC post where you can comment and say MY CHARACTER IS EXPLORING X, and I'll give you a tiny little blurb with the results of same! I will be limiting how many explorations players can do (though you will be able to do more than one) just so I don't die, and I will absolutely encourage players to team up their characters ICly to give you adventure scenarios you can then thread out at your leisure.
In addition to the setting change/small exploration portion of the plot, in August we will also be having PALACE GAMES. What are Palace Games, you ask??? I will give you a quick rundown!
What is a Palace?
For those who aren't Persona 5 familiar, a Palace is a mini-world created by the distorted desires of an individual. Their desires are so twisted that it alters the Metaverse around their Shadow, creating symbolism that represents the nature of their distorted emotions. At the center of every Palace is a treasure, which is an item that represents the beginning/cornerstone of those distorted desires. And the Ruler of every Palace is the character's Shadow.
What's a Shadow?
THINK FREUDIAN PSYCHOLOGY. A Shadow is similar to a character's Id. It represents all of the things about a character's personality/character that they actively suppress or deny. It is a physical copy of the character, though often it differs in many physical traits; i.e. a Shadow may look like the character but be a MINOTAUR when the character is just a normal human, or the Shadow may look like the character but dressed like a king, etc etc.
So how are Palace Games going to work in an RP context?
I'd like to have volunteer players GM Palace runs for their characters! I'd like for them to basically moderate the entire exploradora, allowing characters to poke at pieces of their characters' distorted desires and have confrontations with their Shadows. For those who are Persona familiar, the run doesn't have to mirror how P4/P5 dungeons work exactly. You can be creative with how you do it, and not every Palace has to have a SHADOW FIGHT or even have a TREASURE STOLEN. You can take this opportunity to show off your characters Issues (™) in a fun way!
Are they going to be run similar to heart games?
Yeh basically, lmfao.
My character is a Persona user, and Persona users aren't supposed to have Palaces :(
That's okay, Reverie isn't 100% canon compliant anyway. YOU CAN STILL HAVE A PALACE!! C:
My character doesn't have any deep-seated issues to be reflected by a Palace or a Shadow :(
I'm so glad at least one character here is well-adjusted weeps. But in that case, don't worry about it!! You can run your Palace however you want to. If your character has a happy Shadow and a rosy Palace, I'll allow for it. Whatever is most fun for you!!
OKAY I WANNA SIGN UP!!
Great!! I'm aiming to have Palace games run the weekend of September 3 and 4th. Times of these games will vary based on the availability of runners, and it's totally okay to schedule the best time to run yours based around whoever wants to play within it.
That said, for September's round, I'm going to put a limit on 10 Palace runners. If you're interested, please sign up in the screened comment below, to keep your potential participation a sekrit for Reasons (™). Sign ups will be due by August 6th at 11:59 a.m. EST On Sunday, before the new setting goes up, if we have more than 10 sign ups I'll RNG the ten to run them in September. If you sign up and aren't chosen: don't worry! This won't be the last time we run Palace Games, I promise! And there will be plenty of other chances for you to get involved in plot ;w;/
Characters chosen to run Palace Games will also have a Thing (™) to go with it. That's a secret for now, BUT if you are chosen and the Thing (™) is not your cuppa, you will be given the chance to rescind your sign up.
If 10 or less people sign up, everyone who signs up will get to run one!
