[TEST DRIVE #1]

TEST DRIVE #1

"Sit up straight, Inmate! Do you slouch like that in front of your mother? Have some self-respect-- no one else is going to have it for you!"

The demanding voice rouses you from your slumber. In the blink of an eye, you've found yourself some place. . . different! Let's take a brief look into what your new life as an inmate at the Edge of Reverie will entail.
PROMPT I: Respect for the Dead (???)

[This month, your assignment from the Warden is. . . to go grave robbing?? Some elaborate and lavish mausoleums have appeared in the cemetery, and if you could somehow get inside, there's probably plenty of treasure for you to pilfer. The only problem is that each and ever mausoleum is shut tightly with an iron-barred gate. Perhaps those with super strength of mad lockpicking skills can brute force their way inside?]

[Once you do manage to get inside, you'll find some treasure! Everything from golden jewelry to fancy clothing to elaborate artwork. . . it's all yours for the taking! Except. . . when you touch it, you start to feel kind of. . . weird?]

[Jewelry: You start to feel very envious of what those around you have that you have not. And no matter how hard you try to quash that envy, you just want to take their stuff for yourself.

Clothing: You feel very vain, and just have to show off to those you meet. Look at this coat, isn't it to die for? You worked sooooo hard to get it! Wouldn't they love to have one of these for themselves? Haha, it's too bad that they can't!

Artwork: The entire world suddenly seems oh-so beautiful, and you simply must express this fact. That person you're talking to? They're gorgeous, and all you want to do is hold their hand or touch their cheek or play with their hair. Wow, who knew art could make someone so touchy-feely?

Misc: Feel free to make up your own effect that's associated with some kind of objects that doesn't fall into one of the categories above! Any type of compulsion will do, be it harmless and silly or dangerous and maybe a little violent. Have fun!]

PROMPT II: Get Jiggy With It

[The jukebox in Theo's diner is blasting some tunes today! It cycles from song to song, some of them low and melancholy, and some of them upbeat and bouncy. And some of them might sound familiar. . .?]

[Either way, as soon as you hear the music, your body starts to move on its own volition in time to the music. Whoa! It's time to dance!! The only way to clear the compulsion to dance is to find a partner and boogie down. But hey, maybe this is a great way to meet new people?]

PROMPT III: Team Bonding. . .?

[So. . . you're locked in your dorm. With the other members of your team. And with the instructions, so "helpfully" provided by the Warden, to get to know each other better. Today is going to be a fun day!!]

[At least there's a helpful list of team building activities posted on the (locked) front door to give you some guidance:]

[1) Do a trust fall!
2) Play charades!
3) Ask someone a super embarrassing question!
4) Give someone a kiss!
5) Punch someone in the face!!]

[. . . hm! Well! You can also make up other "team-building" exercises as you wish, and assume they are also on the list. Have fun!!]

PROMPT IV: La Lune

[You know what they say about monsters and the full moon, right? Well. . . tonight, the clocktower's hands have shifted: the hour hand points to XIII, and the minute hand points to V. Tonight's moon is bright and crisp and clear in the sky, and whatever possession has a hold of you may be a little. . . ah. Stronger than it normally is]

[Those with full-on possessions may find themselves temporarily controlled by whatever entity is residing in their body. Those with nothing more than monster instincts may find them wishing to follow their ID more often than not-- a little nibble on someone here or there, nothing more. And those who are fortunate enough to still 100% be themselves will be. . . well. Unaffected! Aren't you lucky?]

[Be careful. Life in the Edge of Reverie isn't all fun and games.]

PROMPT V: The Wildcard

[Make up your own prompts! You can use any part of the setting as inspiration. Have fun!]

---

OOC READ ME: You can pick whatever team and monster you want for your character and go with it for the TDM! At this point, however, TDM threads will not be canon since teams and monsters aren't official yet.

The game will open on October 2 at some nebulous time!! Whenever I wake up and feel like posting the intro log, basically.

Apps are now open, but I won't be responding to them until closer to the 2nd. Probably I'll have all initial teams sorted and done by the 1st but waggles hands. WHENEVER I GET TO IT, REALLY.

Also, please bear in mind the invite policy for this game. Thank you so much for your interest, and have fun!

ETA: CELI MADE A DISCORD SO FEEL FREE TO JOIN!!

a. Tomb Raiding

[Graverobbing was not something the Detective was keen on, but with graves come grave goods - and information. Lock-picking was quite easy for him, as he starts to examine the artwork, careful not to displace anything. However, at a dust-covered inscription, he starts brushing it off, the long, silky tail wagging in curiosity, upright ears perking, making look very much like a dog happily digging up an old bone except for his glowing red eyes]

Let's see what we have here...

b. the song everyone knows

[He didn't expect that song in the jukebox at all. His ears perked up, tilting his head in confusion before he suddenly all but flings himself from his seat.]

What on...

[Soon he pivots on the ball of his foot before leaping dramatically on the table, fur flying as he spreads his arms out, kicking high in the air going nearly perfectly vertical... guess he'll just can-can until the music over? It isn't exactly dignified, but he suppose it could be worse... please don't turn and bow]

C. Two words follow by spinning motions

[Charades! Sherlock happily guesses words when prompted, but when his turn is up - he first holds out two fingers, then he points to his canine-like ears]

D. Wildcard
[hit me up with anything]

[Minato considers this for a moment!

And then blandly:]

Two words. Ear mites.

[no]

[His ears spinned back before shaking his head, lips cured back sightly before he gestures to his ear then to his ringer finger]
messianic: (with the same words)

[personal profile] messianic 2021-09-18 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, that was wrong. [duh, minato]

Ring... worms. [no more parasites, minato]
improbablenotimpossible: (Default)

[personal profile] improbablenotimpossible 2021-09-18 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[Another shake of the head - just good one considers the unsavory things, but please stay off the parasites.

He tilts his head, before he cups his hand next to the ear, before pointing to the ring finger, his tail no longer wagging]
messianic: (And made dust and dropped)

[personal profile] messianic 2021-09-18 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm...

[he tilts his head to one side.]

Ringing in your ears...? No, you said two words, I think.

... I'm starting to think I'm not very good at this game.
improbablenotimpossible: (The fact of the matter...)

[personal profile] improbablenotimpossible 2021-09-18 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... you were closer than your first two guesses.
messianic: (schedules of sentiment)

[personal profile] messianic 2021-09-18 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, well... that's close enough, I guess.

What was it?
improbablenotimpossible: (A three pipe problem)

[Honestly it's a good thing he didn't show up until after the can can ended, because then everyone there would be hearing him crying about his back until the cows came home.

Instead, another song accompanies him as he enters, and the 6-tailed kitsune is basically compelled to grab the closest person and start waltzing.

CONGRATS, YOU'RE THE CLOSEST.]

Ergk?!

[personal profile] improbablenotimpossible 2021-09-18 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[And he just got off the table, before he could smooth out his clothes, he found his hand clasped with Moriarty? And what's worst is the other man had the lead]

Can someone please unplug that bloody thing?
hatesdeerstalkers: (annoyed grandpa noises)

[personal profile] hatesdeerstalkers 2021-09-18 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait, it's because of that-

[NO TIME, WALTZ NOW. At least they make a pretty picture, the silver fox dancing with the black hound - though he's looking intensely annoyed with his ears pinned back.]

For how long - gah! I cannot even attempt to move away?!
improbablenotimpossible: (You see but do not observe)

[personal profile] improbablenotimpossible 2021-09-18 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Let's say I've danced to the entirety of the Galop Infernal, not just the part everyone knows.

[He was quite graceful even when was caught off guard, all that's missing is rose petals to make it some kind of shoujo splash page]

You're fortunate you didn't come in earlier.

[personal profile] hatesdeerstalkers 2021-09-19 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
[God help them if anyone photographs this. Somehow.]

The - Oh, of course. With your damned flexibility, you probably made for quite the sight.

[MORIARTY PLEASE.]

I think I would have died from the sheer back pain. yes.

[personal profile] improbablenotimpossible 2021-09-19 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
[Thankfully so far the only witness was a horse. He moves perfectly with Moriarty]

And likely landed face-first at least once.

hatesdeerstalkers: (siiiiiigh)

[personal profile] hatesdeerstalkers 2021-09-19 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
[The song is beginning to get to the final movement, thank god. Moriarty is at least a perfect lead, though it often seems like he focuses more on his partner instead.]

Thankfully, it is but a hypothetical. ...Though I am surprised at how well you do as the second in a Waltz.

[Considering men were normally only taught to lead.]
improbablenotimpossible: (You know my methods)

[personal profile] improbablenotimpossible 2021-09-19 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Had my reasons to learn the second, I am surprised that you are not left feet.

[Thank god the music is winding down - they could hurry and unplug the thing]

[Talking horses were hardly the oddest thing he has seen in Chaldea, but it was still odd enough that he had to take a moment to review his day before waking up here to make absolutely certain he hadn't taken one of the special medicines he had Parascelus had made for him.]

Yes- it -

[And now the mid-air splits, a graceful landing marred by the table wobbling from impact, forcing himself to catch himself]

...Frankly, this whole has. Been. quite odd.
mountanoffensive: (one careful step at a time)

Re: b

[personal profile] mountanoffensive 2021-09-19 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
I wish I could say it's the strangest thing that's ever happened to me.

Also, I know this is probably the last thing you want to hear right now. But you dance very nicely.
improbablenotimpossible: (Let me ponder the matter further)

Re: b

[personal profile] improbablenotimpossible 2021-09-19 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you - I have to say I've only seen this performed before.

[Least the current set of kicks does make it easier to converse]

It sounds like you have quite a story uh...

[Is this a Horse with No Name?]
mountanoffensive: (well then)

Sherlock Holmes.

[Oh good - he thinks, the song is starting to wind down, even as someone who is technically a spirit, the can-can is a rather demanding performance]

I have to say I did not expect them to bring a horse here.
mountanoffensive: (really)

Re: b

[personal profile] mountanoffensive 2021-09-19 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
[She is also doing some impressive high kicks. Which is probably slightly easier for a horse. Now the backwalking on the other hand...

To be fair, I didn't expect to be brought here either. I didn't even have the key this time.
improbablenotimpossible: (Let me ponder the matter further)

Re: b

[personal profile] improbablenotimpossible 2021-09-20 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
[That's pretty impressive given a horse's body structure]

The key I presume is your method of traveling to another world or dimension?

[The man does seem rather unphased by the idea, but when the music stops - he jumps off the table]

Let's not let that happen again.
