If your character is already an animal (like for instance, a horse) would they go full monster or just be a monster horse?

LMFAO, this is up to you! They can be a full monster (like a werewolf horse just turning into a wolf), or they can be a monster horse (a horse with werewolf features). The monster part is definitely intended to be super flexible so players can do with it whatever makes them happiest in their heart space.

FOR CURIOSITY’S SAKE, if I app a character who is an astral projection of the earth’s moon, does the moon body come with? does the moon get painted with prison stripes???

Is the moon the actual playable character, and the astral-projection is how the moon appears to other people because the moon is-- in reality-- a floating rock in space?? And are you asking if this character would appear in Reverie as THE MOON or the astral projection or both?

Hello, I have a question regarding monster forms interacting with canon powers!

For a very specific example, I plan on apping a man with the ability to manipulate his own bones (grow and change their shape, add extra bone, etc)

If I plan to give him a monster form that would give him a long skeleton tail (like. y'know, a tail without all the flesh and fur.) would he be able to manipulate that tail as well?

The answer to that is yes! However, the limitation on this power would be that he can't use the ability to shapeshift to completely get rid of his physical monster changes. He can use it to alter the way they look, i.e. make them bigger, change their shape, etc etc, but in the end they would still be there.

is switching between mostly humanoid looking and a bigger monster form under certain circumstances ok or would that fall under receiving powers from the possession (shapeshifting, maybe being slightly stronger in the monster form or having teeth and claws) and not be available?

Nah, that wouldn't count as a power! Mostly because I can't see it being beneficial for either the monster or the character, rofl. If your monster has memory issues it's totally fine if it leaks over to the character, too!

Presuming Raidou's demons are similar to Akira's Personas, he gets to keep them!

OH. FATE/S ARE TOTALLY ACCEPTABLE, I mostly meant like, historical fiction characters! Hamilton is a historical fiction, for example, while Fate is GESTURES AT FATE, so yeah! As another example Abraham Lincoln from ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER would be fine too, since again it's not really so much historical fiction as it is using a historical figure in a very fictional totally not-real-world scenario

Do visions count as separate items that dont come with them or an item that is necessary? I'm not sure where it falls since visions = their ambitions and dreams or what not so without 'em, they lose a part of themselves (sometimes theres memory loss too) but it isn't necessarily NEEDED to live per se.

I'm sorry Childe BUT he will not arrive with his Vision :( :( :( That said, not having it won't strip away his ambitions and dreams like it does in canon because that would be rough, and he can immediately get his vision back from the suggestion box if you'd like!

Unless you WANT him to arrive sans vision and without ambitions and dreams, in which case you can play him without those for a while until he gets it back! FOLLOW UR HEART CELI.

ALSO QUESTION ABOUT PPL WHO ARE POSSESSED BY MONSTERS. Afaik (canon is a litle bit weird) but the tldr is that Yuta actually has a curse/monster that possesses him (at this point, willingly). Her spirit became this curse but she did get exorcised and could pass on.

But he still has the monster with him! The issue is "It is currently unknown if this entity is related to Rika Orimoto or a different manifestation altogether." It seems very likely its NOT Rika but either way, he does in fact still have a monster friend he can manifest.

Does he get to keep this monster with him or does that not get included? (this would not be the monster thats assigned to him through this world)

He gets to keep her! Now he has TWO monster possessions. ISN'T YUTA LUCKY MAN!!

But also if you'd rather him not keep her when he arrives in Reverie, that is fine, too! It all depends on how you want to play it: double monster possession, or single possession and he lost the one from home. This sort of thing is super flexible!

I HAVE A SOULVORE QUESTION

If we have powers from home on, for Emet-Selch and Hythlodaeus it means being able to merge their souls (pls let us do this it's for horny purposes). Usually that kind of thing is done consensually, BUT it's possible to do it forcibly too. Which is what Emet wants to do, because he's mcfuckin brainwashed and his solution to seeing Hythlodaeus is "I'm going to vacuum up his soul and keep it inside mine forever". The question is, 1) is he allowed to do that by game mechanics; 2) it would technically mean a sort of death for Hyth and what would happen with that?

In canon, the WoL is in possession of a constellation stone of Azem ( as seen here ) that has been shown to be carried around on them since they received it.

Would it count as an accessory or would that be a no-go like the more intimate things with more sentimental value and need to be asked for from the suggestion box?

if i decide to app a character with an infectious and ultimately fatal fictional disease (which is only not fatal to her due to her species) to what degree are you ok with it being infectious, like, on a scale from "dont play with it at all/it does not affect any other PCs full stop" to "it's rly hard but if someone oocly wants it then ok" to "yes but not the whole thing" to "idc normal levels of infectiousness"

ftr i plan on keeping it on the downlow regardless/checking in with every player that could potentially be affected and i'm gonna avoid doing any sort of [spread this disease] plot but given (gestures to the world) i figure i should ask first

disease details: the fictional disease is Oripathy from arknights. it's effectively magic rock cancer / the body starts growing rock crystal tumors and has microscopic amounts of crystal in the blood. infection is caused by getting cut with the rocks/bloodstream (but specter does not have rocks) or contact with blood/bodily fluids (for specter it's heavily in her spinal fluid) ALSO it's currently incurable i forgot that part.

symptoms include rock crystals in the body but also ppl start being able to use originium arts (effectively: one personalized kind of magic, e.g. can shoot fire/can heal/can slow people down) AT THE COST OF the infection spreading faster and thus ppl dying faster.

understandably if you do not want ppl to be able to Gain powers i am also cool with just not having that aspect be available (specter can't use originium arts due to her species so it's not an Automagic Magic Acquire thing)

if you ARE ok with it/ok with it to a limited capacity i can write up like, possible forms of Originium Arts and run them by you to make sure they aren't Big/OP before letting that be a thing :|b i am imagining all abilities would be more on the minor side (e.g. weak flames, exhausting to use) if allowed so that's what i'd be going for

i am good with any and all verdicts so if this sounds like a pain in the ass i can just go with not infectious also. thank uuuu

OOOOOH I THINK THIS SOUNDS REALLY FUN ACTUALLY?? So I'll allow it to be infectious BUT ofc only with OOC permission from all involved parties!! So even if a character is exposed they will not get magic rock cancer if the player doesn't OOCly want it, just so people aren't getting infected if they don't want to be, sweats.

I also sadly have to nerf the power-gaining aspect of it because muttermumble monster powers at some point maybe, BUT all other aspects (INCLUDING ROCK CRYSTALS IN BLOOD AND ROCK TUMORS) are perfectly fine! I'll allow players who are infected to determine the extent of the growths for their own fun so it can be pretty flexible from player to player, which is in line with how the monster changes are in the game anyway, nodnods.

The disease will also stop progressing at a point before it kills anyone, if it can kill anyone, so people don't have to worry about dying LMFAO. Also there may or may not be IC ways to heal it in the future through game mechanics if a player decides they don't want it anymore but that will all depend on OOC desires and such!

Does that sound good??

i'm sorry one more question. two more questions

1) theoretically if 2 characters have the same monster, and that monster happens to be a hivemind species, then would those 2 characters be hiveminded or would that be too much of a monster power

2) say the monster does psychic damage (literally) and existing around it ordinarily just drives a person insane. presumably "literally drives them insane" is too much into the powerzone but is "inexplicably incredibly unsettling and uncomfortable to look at/be around" still OK

for reference the monster is seaborn from arknights. this is only a problem canon to be quite honest

OKAY HERE IS MY QUESTION IN SEVERAL PARTS: Vicious wants to get a bow for Roy.

OPTION ONE, could Vicious get Roy's canon bow for him even though he does not personally know what bow Roy uses/wants?

OPTION TWO, could Vicious get a bow from his own canon even if he does not know about it specifically?

OPTION THREE, could Vicious just give a general bow wishlist ("unbreakable" "shoots magic bolts" etc) and get a magic bow of a generic variety?

And relevant to options 2 and 3, how ridiculous can this bow be? Especially in terms of having unlimited ammo, but also potentially other crazy functions. Apparently a bow from Tales of Hearts can shoot stew and paint in some situations?? (Roy's got some crazy canon arrows too but he has to make them with tech and Vicious is pretty sure making arrows sucks.)

OKAY AFTER SOME THOUGHT, options 1 and 2 are not available, alas. Vicious would have to know what he is asking for to get it from the box! So Roy would have to ask for his canon bow, and Vicious would have to know what bow he is asking for in his canon, etc.

And for option three, Vicious can get a generic bow, but it can't have any magical abilities nor unlimited ammo, because there may or may not be a way for characters to get extra non-canon abilities in the future! But if he does ask for a bow I'll give him a quiver of arrows to go with it because otherwise it'd be useless hAHA.

Dorms can only be opened by members of that team by using their phones to unlock the electronic lock!

Dorm doors cannot be broken down.

Furniture can be removed from dorms, but note on the setting page if you do take it out b/c dorm furniture does not get replaced like public furniture does! Also maybe OOCly run this by dorm mates so they know about it beforehand, HAHA

ALRIGHT time for a specific suggestion box question!!

Would it be possible for Sharon to request an item that belonged to her with the stipulation that she wants it as it was when she had possession of it years ago (considering it was likely destroyed prior to her current canon point)? (For reference, the item in question is her carcere aka the pendant that allows her to maintain her bond with her Chain Equus) Specifically it was most likely destroyed prior to her current canon point. I'm sorry if those words make no sense but I promise they do in my head.

I know the setting allows characters of different times but I wanted to make sure it would be good and okay for items to do so since she would at least Try this method first.

ALTERNATIVELY if that is against the rules would... would she be able to request said creature's blood so she can drink it the Baskerville way and form the contract again.

In regards to team swaps and games, or specifically when they happen mid-game with longer mingle games, which team should characters turn in for or would they be eligible to be turned in for both?

Or in my specific case, would Rean still be able to turn in his card progress in order to support Cerberus even though he's no longer on the team?

Generally, characters would turn in their cards for their new team if they swap md-game! So since Rean swapped to Echidna, and Echidna can't win-- ergo they have no turn-in-- he wouldn't be able to turn in his card at all.

HELLO I AM ONE OF THE TWO PEOPLE KAZ MENTIONED THINKING OF APPING FROM DREAM SMP

so the reason why kaz brought up "it's variable" whether people are playing themselves or characters are because

1. it didn't start OUT as a roleplay server, and then gradually BECAME a roleplay server and once it became a roleplay server the people who decided to roleplay went very very hard on it

2. there's some people who are still on the server that just don't roleplay/aren't involved in the actual plot at all

and 3. the roleplayers use their actual names for their characters, so it gets kind of bleed-ey there... but that's because the server didn't start as an rp server and it would just be weird to break pattern i think

THAT BEING SAID IT HAS... A MASSIVE FANDOM, hundreds of fanworks, actual merch and official songs and by now the DSMP follows a legitimate scripted plot so it has definitely Become a work of fiction.

Tristan and I made a google slide presentation for the purpose of pulling katy into our new hell which explains a couple more things, and also explains like... all the actual characters.

This is a video series that attempts to explain the entire plot up til the most recent arc but... it's Long and it doesn't explain EVERYTHING.

and this is just a video that showcases the absolute insanity of this fandom and how seriously this plot is taken

anyways, now that i've presented my case for DSMP being a legitimate canon, I want to mention that tristan and i plan on apping two characters (wilbur and technoblade) as an AU where they're actually twins, which is a popular AU in the fandom. So it's ... even more removed in that way I guess?

SECOND PERSON KAZ MENTIONED THINKING OF APPING DREAM SMP:

I think a close equivalency in terms of canon would be honestly like The Adventure Zone, in which the early stuff is dicking around and they have OOC conversations sometimes while playing but there are scenes which are clearly labeled In-Character, particularly later on, as people started making literal hour long movies which they labeled `Lore`, which is the slang used for RP-only scenes.

As an example of it being much more RP than just youtubers/streamers, five minute exert of Wilbur's amnesiac shade talking to his father in the aftermath of bombing the nation, plus them breaking character because Tommy got struck by lightning mid-serious conversation and it distracts them, before they resume RP so you can see what character breaks mid-scene are sometimes like. Or, here's one of Quackity's lore movie VODs for an example.

While early stuff is def rough, a lot of later stuff is fully fictional RP. Things like dead in a limbo-hell train station for 13 and a half years as part of a character arc get played and then factor into characterization, so there's consistent characterization, plot arcs, and history over the role-play.

If you'd like for us to AU so the characters won't be using minecraft terms or anything, definitely understood! I just wanted to be able to show like, it's not just that this thing that is silly has a fandom, but also that it has enough content in and of itself to be able to support apping.
